STEPHEN GUYON BIRD

The Last Judgement polyptych painted for the Christian Theology department at Ampleforth College with the support of the Farmington Institute. The subject matter, iconography, format and arrangement of the panels, are based on the study of Medieval and Renaissance Last Judgement paintings and sculptural friezes. Visual references are also made to the modern world; many of the scenes are set in South Lambeth in the 1970’s.
